X99 - LGA 2011 v3

Question:
How are Chinese motherboards in general?
Answer
Since socket 2011, the quality has improved and the remaining problems, for the most part, are not related to the hardware, but to the software.
As before, more well-known brands such as Huananzhi are quite on par with regular budget branded boards. Among the less well-known, there may be both successful and unsuccessful models.
Question:
Do I need to understand the intricacies of unlocks, overclocking, firmware and other things, or can I just buy and use it?
Answer
You don’t need to understand, all the subtleties are needed in order to “squeeze all the juice” out of iron. The performance of even mid-budget processors of this socket will be enough for standard tasks (including games) without any tuning.
Question:
After assembly, the system hangs on some post-code or simply does not start (black screen)
Answer
The most common reason is that the contacts of the memory modules or the processor are oxidized. Since both the memory and the processor are usually not new, but used, this happens much more often than you might think.
  • We carefully disassemble the system, remove the memory strips and the processor
  • We wipe the contacts of the memory modules with an eraser, or with alcohol, galosh gasoline is also suitable.
  • We examine the socket contacts, make sure that they are not bent. We also wipe the contacts of the processor.
  • Collecting everything back and checking
The second most popular reason is incompatible RAM. LGA2011-3 only works with desktop modules with 16 banks (not chips). This does not concern server memory, it works all.
Check the characteristics of the available memory, if possible - check the modules on another PC.
Question:
The system does not start (no image) with an old video card. Newer one is fine
Answer
Probably the video card does not support UEFI. In order for the old video card to work, you need to enable CSM in the BIOS and set the video card to “Legacy”.
Question:
The system does not start with memory modules from different manufacturers. The modules themselves are 100% working.
Answer
The Xeon e5 2600 v3 series of processors (probably also applies to the 1600 v3) is quite capricious in relation to memory and may not start even if the installed modules have similar characteristics, but are produced by different factories.
It is possible to reliably find out whether specific memory modules will work together only in practice.
Question:
Dual socket system won't start when only one processor is installed
Answer
In most Chinese dual-socket boards, both processor sockets must be powered to start, even if the second processor is not installed.
Question:
The fan on vrm started to rattle, what should I do?
Answer
  • Remove the decorative trim from the coolers, sometimes it is the cause of extraneous sounds
  • If the sounds remain, you will most likely have to change the fan
  • For cold processors with low TDP (within 85W), only one of the coolers can be used. In well-ventilated cases and using cold CPUs, you can do without vrm coolers altogether.
Question:
USB 3.0 "falls off" or slows down
Answer
Try the following: in the BIOS, go to the “Advanced” section, then to the “USB Configuration” section, in the “Legacy USB Support” option, set the “disabled” mode. Then in the BIOS, go to the "IntelRCSetup" section, then to the "PCH Configuration" section, then to the "USB Configuration" section, in the "xHCI Mode" option, set the "smart auto" mode.
There is another way, tested on the Huananzhi X99-T8: in the BIOS, go to  IntelRCSetup - PCH Configuration - USB Configuration . The  xHCI Mode parameter is switched to  manual . There is also the  Route USB 2.0 pins to which HC? switch to  Route all pins to EHCI. Oddly enough, this helps not only for USB 2.0 ports, but also for USB 3.0.
Question:
Windows Boot Loader Disappears Regularly
Answer
To prevent this from happening, try setting the boot mode to "UEFI Only" in the BIOS (the video card must support UEFI, and the system disk must be GPT).
